Skylar Shafer - baker

Hi everyone! My name is Sky, and I am a self-taught baker. I am from Connecticut and moved to Albuquerque, NM in 2015 for school. When I am not baking, I am a social work student and I cuddle with our cats, Fabu, Shiko, and Zia.

During the pandemic, I found myself needing a hobby to pass time, so I started to bake cakes for our little pod of people. The encouragement from family and friends allowed me to start Sky's Sweets! I love decorating cakes, so I constantly research new designs and techniques to build my skills. Since starting Sky's Sweets, I decided to add more to the menu than just cakes. I've included my favorite sweet treats that I've enjoyed throughout my childhood that can be difficult to find in NM. Check out our menu to learn more!

Elijah Meddleton

An important person behind Sky's Sweets is my boyfriend, Elijah. We met in senior year of high school when I moved to Albuquerque, and he has been my #1 support ever since! Elijah has a very creative mind, so he helps me with cake designs and flavors (aka taste testing). I am so also grateful for his support with set up, take down, and everything in between for pop up markets. Sky's Sweets would not be possible without Eli's help!
